telephone (http://www.srch-results.com/lm/dir_rxt.asp?k=telephone)
The telephone or phone (http://www.srch-results.com/lm/dir_rxt.asp?k=phone) (Greek: τῆλε (ti:le) tele = far away
and φωνή (fɒnihttp://www.riffa-club.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif phone = voice) is a telecommunications device which is used to transmit and receive sound (most commonly voice and speech) across distance. Most telephones (http://www.srch-results.com/lm/dir_rxt.asp?k=telephones) operate through transmission (http://www.srch-results.com/lm/dir_rxt.asp?k=transmission) of electric signals over a complex telephone network which allows almost any phone user to communicate with almost any other.
Introduction
An elementary telephone system consists of three elements:
For each subscriber, the system must contain the equipment necessary to convert sound to electrical signals and back. This allows the subscriber to answer or initiate a call.
The system must contain a central switching facility which interconnects all the subscribers.
Finally, the system requires wiring or other means to connect the subscribers to the central switching facility.
There are three principal ways a subscriber may be connected to the telephone network:
Historically, and still very commonly, by dedicated physical wire connections run in overhead or underground cables;
By radio, as in a cordless, cellular, satellite or radiotelephone and
By voice over internet protocol (VoIP) telephones, which
use broadband internet connections
.
History
The identity of the inventor of the electric telephone remains in dispute. Antonio Meucci, Johann Philipp Reis, Alexander Graham Bell and Elisha Gray, amongst others, have all been credited with the invention.
The very early history of the telephone is a confusing morass of claim and counterclaim, which was not clarified by the huge mass of lawsuits which hoped to resolve the patent claims of individuals. Much money was expended, particularly in the Bell Telephone companies, and the aggressive defense of the Bell patents resulted in much confusion. Additionally, the earliest investigators preferred publication in the popular press and demonstration to investors instead of scientific publication and demonstration to fellow scientists. It is important to note that there is probably no single "inventor of the telephone". The modern telephone is the result of work done by many hands, all worthy of recognition of their addition to the field

Fax (short for facsimile - from Latin "fac simile", "make similar", i.e. "make a copy" - or telefacsimile) is a
telecommunications technology used to transfer copies of ********s, especially using affordable devices operating over the telephone network. The words telecopy and telefax are also used as synonyms
A fax machine is essentially an image scanner, a modem, and a computer printer combined into a highly specialized package. The scanner converts the ******* of a physical ******** into a digital image, the modem sends the image data over a phone line, and the printer at the other end makes a duplicate of the original ********.
Fax machines with additional electronic features can connect to computers, can be used to scan ********s into a computer, and to print ********s from the computer. Such high-end devices are called multifunction printers and cost more than fax machines
Typewriter
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/0/05/Underwoodfive.jpg/250px-Underwoodfive.jpg
A typewriter is a mechanical, electromechanical, or electronic device with a set of "keys" that, when pressed, cause characters to be printed on a printed on a ******** paper, usually paper.
In the late 19th and the start of the 20th century a person who operated such a device was sometimes also called a typewriter but it then became more common to call the person a typist.
For much of the 20th Century, typewriters were indispensable tools in business offices and for many (if not most) professional writers. By the 1980s, however, word processor applications on personal computers largely overtook the tasks previously done with typewriters. However, typewriters are still popular in the developing world, and among some niche markets.
As of 2006, the following companies manufacture typewriters and accessories: Smith-Corona, Olivetti, Adler-Royal, Olympia, Brother, and Nakajima. Olivetti is the only western company to currently manufacture manual typewriters. All other current models are electronic
